The 1980s were marked by a series of no plot TV Shows that held very minimal public interest. People were craving for more and more sex and violence in their living rooms via television, which made the ground very fertile for the introduction of home entertainment systems. VHS Tapes dominated the market until the introduction of the DVD. Video Rental Stores like Blockbuster were cash cows as the public demanded more and more choices. At their peak, Blockbuster had over 9,000 retail locations nationwide. Today, only one remains in operation. The advent of Cable and Satellite Television was responsible in large part for their demise. We discuss the dangers that lurk in your living rooms, and where video entertainment appears to be headed. In future episodes, we will discuss not only, the increased sex and graphic violence Americans are subjected to on a daily basis, but also offer alternatives for family entertainment. Our last episode in this series will discuss what if any effect the entertainment industry and video games have on school violence, and look at possible solutions to remedy this growing nightmare. We encourage you to listen in, and share the podcast with your friends.
